When you think of the School of the Air, what comes to mind? Most people picture a child sitting with headphones on at an old fashioned radio in the outback. Well, this school is no longer.
This presentation will focus on introducing participants to ThinkQuest and Think.com; two innovative, educational web based learning experiences that bring together students globally, through the use of ICT - Information Communications Technology.
In this session participants will find out more about planning high quality units and learning experiences that develop understanding of aspects of studies of Asia through the meaningful and purposeful use of ICT by students. The session will also describe how the use of ICT for planning and assessing can improve student learning outcomes. The session describes how ICTs can assist students to develop the understandings, knowledge and values described in the National Statement for Engaging Young Australians with Asia in Australian Schools.
At Southern Cross Primary School our aim is to promote student engagement in learning. In this presentation Esther Hall will focus on how students are engaged in a fun and creative project based ICT program at Southern Cross. She will outline the programs run at Southern Cross and the steps involved practically in implementing these programs. As the Multi Media Coordinator, Esther promotes literacy learning and purposeful communication through ICT. Esther has developed a unit of work known as
